Welcome to the website of the Free Church of Scotland congregation in Back, on the Isle of Lewis in northwest Scotland. We are a Presbyterian congregation, committed to the doctrines of the Reformed faith, and serving a large rural community six miles north of Stornoway, the main town in Lewis.
Our minister is the Rev. Calum Iain Macleod who was inducted into the congregation on the 10th of August, 2010. A native of the island of Scalpay, Calum Iain was previously minister in the Free Church congregation in Barvas.
Our website contains articles concerning our history, our activities and our faith. You can also listen online to sermons in both English and Gaelic, as well as subscribe to a podcast.
We hope that you will enjoy browsing these pages and that you will find them helpful. Above all we trust that this extension of our ministry will be to the glory of God and will help to strengthen believers in their faith. Soli Deo Gloria!
Please note that over the next few weeks, this site will be undergoing a period redesign and reconstruction.
Look at the noticeboard for information on service times and an explanation of our traditions of worship.
There are many studies available to read -- biblical expositions of the Old and New Testaments as well as some general essays and reflections. These studies are the work of our former minister, Rev Dr I D Campbell.
