Sacraments

We believe that the Bible authorises two Sacraments: Baptism and the Lord's Supper.

The Sacraments are administered two times a year in our congregation. We normally share the Sacrament of the Lord's Supper on the last Sabbath of March, and on the first Sabbath of October. Approximately a month after these, we administer the Sacrament of Baptism.

In our tradition, the Sacrament of the Lord's Supper becomes an occasion for extended Bible study and reflection. We normally have visiting preachers with us for the occasion, and hold services from Thursday through Monday. We welcome to the Lord's Table those who have made public profession of faith in Christ Jesus as their Lord and Saviour, recognising that the Table is not ours, but His.

The Sacrament of Baptism is administered both to adults, who have not been baptised before, and who receive the sign of the covenant upon profession of faith, and to children, whose parents pledge to bring them up under the privileges of the Gospel. We recognise that there is a difference of opinion regarding the way baptism ought to be administered, but do not believe that these warrant us to break communion with other believers.
