Times and Places of Worship
There are three places of worship in our district. The main church is at Back, situated on the main road between Stornoway and North Tolsta, in the village of Vatisker. The church at Back comprises a main sanctuary and a Hall, which is also used for worship. There are also places of worship in the village of Tong and of Gress.

Midweek services (all at 7pm)
At Back Free Church we place a lot of emphasis on the importance of prayer and Bible study. Church members and others are encouraged to meet for corporate prayer as part of the witness of the church. This is often combined with Bible teaching. While smaller groups meet in homes for prayer and Bible study, the place of public prayer and Bible study is given a priority.
A Gaelic Prayer Meeting is usually held in Back and Tong on the first Monday of each month.
A Gaelic Prayer Meeting is usually held in Gress each Tuesday evening.
A Prayer Meeting is usually held in Tong each Wednesday evening; this may be Gaelic, or may be bilingual, as intimated.
A Gaelic Prayer Meeting is usually held in Back Free Church Hall each Thursday evening, and an English Prayer Meeting each Saturday evening.
Youth work
Sunday schools meet at 3pm, in Gress, Back and Tong. Children from Primary 1 - Secondary 2 are encouraged to attend. The Sunday School in Gress is taught through the medium of Gaelic. The children follow the syllabus prepared by the Youth Committee of the Church, which emphasises the learning of Bible story, basic Christian doctrine, and memorising psalms and the Shorter Catechism.
In addition, a Youth Fellowship for Secondary School children meets every third Sunday. This is a more informal gathering, where, through talks and discussion, the principles of the Christian faith are articulated and taught.
